Andy Jacques
Andy Jacques works out of RISD’s Continuing Education (CE) division and leads a team responsible for maintaining and expanding a successful and high-quality portfolio of children, youth and pre-collegiate (CYP) programming at RISD. Through an emphasis on academic excellence, student success and operational efficiency, he works with the team to implement CE’s mission to provide opportunities for students at all stages of growth and experience. Prior to his role as director of CYP programming, he worked as interim director for academic programs, where he supported teams leading successful and intentional academics for youth, adult and custom programs. Jacques joined CE in early 2022 as the associate director for strategic initiatives, a role in which he focused on building custom programs with external organizations such as the RISD Summer Teen Art Institute in Shanghai, a partnership with RIDE’s All Course Network and the jewelry apprenticeship program developed in partnership with Tiffany & Co.
Before coming to RISD, Jacques served as director of the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement at Bryant University, the director of city services for Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and as a campus contact for AmeriCorps VISTA. From 2011–16, he worked at RISD as the assistant director for leadership programs, developing programs like the Pre-Orientation Service Experience (POSE), RISD LEADS and the MLK Celebration Series and Day of Service. He earned his bachelor’s degree in global studies and political science from Providence College and his master’s in public administration from the University of Rhode Island.
