Overview

RISD graduate students are future creative leaders and public intellectuals, and while at RISD take on significant roles in advancing art and design research – through both their own research and thesis projects, as well as faculty-mentored and -guided projects.

Graduate students often work alongside undergraduates, and while the learning goes both ways, there are significant opportunities to explore teaching and pedagogy – as teaching assistants, instructors in workshops and departmental courses, and through courses of their own design during Wintersession.

Graduate-level research and teaching is supported through research and teaching assistantships, grants and other professional development opportunities.
