Dhruv Mehta
Dhruv Mehta is a licensed architect (COA, India), furniture designer and academic from India. His work is invested in architecture’s complex relation with canon and its role in the contemporary world. Over the last few years, Mehta’s design work has explored themes of formalism, satire, non-linearity and politics.
Mehta graduated with an MArch II from Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he was the cohort representative and chair of the South Asia group. In 2023, he and his team conceptualized and built the winning entry, Turtles All the Way Down, at Gund Hall. He helped design and execute Machado Silvetti's Unprecedented Realism (2022) and Our Artificial Nature (2023) exhibitions at the Druker Design Gallery. His practice in India works on residential projects and furniture design, which deal with ideas of labor, interiority and curation within a complex context.
In addition to teaching advanced design studies at RISD, Mehta is an adjunct faculty member at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he teaches undergraduate architecture studios. He has previously taught for the Design Discovery program at Harvard and has been a guest critic at various architecture institutions. In a constant effort toward research, Mehta has worked with Rahul Mehrotra and Eric Höweler, among others, exploring contemporary construction and design internationally and in South Asia.
