Opportunities Open to All Students

As neighbors in the city’s College Hill neighborhood, RISD and Brown have long enjoyed a collaborative relationship. All students at each institution may cross-register for classes on the neighboring campus at no extra cost. Many RISD students take advantage of intensive foreign language classes and offerings in math, science and the humanities. Conversely, Brown students appreciate the opportunity to do in-depth studio work and have access to specialized equipment just down the hill at RISD.

RISD students are also given ready access to Brown’s extensive research libraries and comprehensive athletic facilities, which include courts, gyms, tracks, a pool and an ice skating rink. Other activities that take place at Brown, from lectures and symposia to concerts, exhibitions and theatrical productions, are generally open to the RISD community. In other words, with a RISD or Brown ID students on both campuses have access to a wider range of options than is available on their own campus alone.
